Juwi to build 39.6 MW wind farm in Nicaragua as part of South American expansion

(SeeNews) – Aug 7, 2012 – German renewable energy projects developer Juwi said yesterday its subsidiary Juwi Energias Renovables – Centro America y el Caribe will supervise the construction of a 39.6 MW wind farm in Nicaragua.

After its connection to the grid by mid-2013, the park, situated in the city of Rivas on the western shore of the Lake Nicaragua, will produce more than 120 million kWh clean electricity annually. This will provide around 30,000 local households with green energy.

Juwi Energias Renovables was chosen by Alba de Nicaragua, a joint venture company owned by the Nicaraguan and Venezuelan government, the main sponsor of the project.
The new construction is part of the German company's expansion plan in South and Central America. The expanding business activities of Juwi on the growing markets in Central America and the Caribbean will be coordinated by Juwi’s local subsidiary, which is extending its portfolio to solar as well as bioenergy plants in addition to its existing wind parks business.

Juwi has been present on the Central American market for eleven years now. In Costa Rica, where Juwi Energias Renovables is based, the German company has built the country’s most powerful wind farm and is currently constructing a 15.3 MW turnkey project.
