World set to install 593 GW of new solar in 2024 - Ember
Sep 19, 2024 13:28 CESTGerman renewable energy projects developer Juwi AG has completed a 10-MW solar project for the fourth-largest energy producer in Germany, LEAG.
The solar farm at the Welzow airfield has been put in operation at the end of 2019 and has already produced 350 MWh, Juwi said last week. On announcding the project in May, the company said the project would use over 27,000 Astronergy panels.
LEAG is the joint brand of lignite-focused Lausitz Energie Bergbau AG and Lausitz Energie Kraftwerke AG. This is the first photovoltaic (PV) park on own land for the Lusatian energy company, and the third built by Juwi in Welzow.
LEAG is also installing 535 kW of rooftop solar capacity in Cottbus and Luebbenau.
Juwi will be in charge of the 10-MW solar park’s operation and maintenance, while LEAG will be marketing the solar electricity.
