German energy group RWE AG (ETR:RWE) will deliver green power to Irish food company Kerry Group PLC (LON:KYGA) from two British solar projects with a combined capacity of 99.8 MW.

The parties have signed a power purchase agreement (PPA) structured as two separate financial pay-as-produced off-take deals, RWE said on Monday, adding that the arrangement is its first solar PPA in the UK.

Over a 10-year period, RWE will supply the British subsidiary of Kerry Group with electricity from two photovoltaic (PV) parks of 49.9 MW each. Dubbed Cotmoor and Copse Lodge, the plants will be installed in the East Midlands of England, in Nottinghamshire and Northamptonshire, respectively.

RWE has already taken a financial investment decision (FID) for the Cotmoor project and expects to proceed with construction works later this year. Copse Lodge Solar will follow in 2025.

The power procurement is aligned with Kerry Group’s goal to lower its combined Scope 1 and 2 carbon emissions by 55% by the end of the decade and achieve net zero by 2050. “The agreements with RWE are Kerry’s first PPAs in the UK and represent approximately 50% of Kerry’s electricity volume used in the country,” said Juan Aguriano, Global Head of Sustainability for Kerry Group.
