German investment and development bank KfW has issued a USD-3-billion (EUR 2.58bn) green bond, bringing the total green financing volume raised by the financial institution in 2021 to EUR 15 billion (USD 17.4bn).

This is the world's largest USD-denominated green bond so far and the offering attracted strong interest with subscriptions exceeding USD 11 billion, KfW said on Thursday.

The five-year bond bears a coupon of 1%.

The majority of the investors, including 120 individual investors, came from Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

The transaction comes a few days after the EU issued its first green bond which drew huge investor interest. The EUR-12-billion note due in February 2037 was eleven times oversubscribed with a final order book of over EUR 135 billion.
