Jun 14, 2012 - Norwegian high-technology systems specialist Kongsberg Gruppen ASA (OSL:KOG) unveiled on Wednesday a wind power division to focus on developing solutions for wind park management and operations.

The new unit, a joint effort between Kongsberg and its Kongsberg Maritime division and based in the latter's facility at Lade in Trondheim, Norway, will seek to reduce the costs of wind power generation contributing to the targeted 30% cut in cost price per kWh. The division will aim to achieve maximum operational predictability and profitability of a wind park's power generation.

Andreas Jagtoyen, VP, Merchant Marine Trondheim, Kongsberg Maritime, said that the company’s expertise in automation equipment for ships and the offshore sector is transferable to the wind power industry.
