Finnish renewables investor Korkia and its existing partner Global Consulting Energy have decided to pursue the joint development of up to 1 GW of solar and agri photovoltaic (PV) capacity in Italy.

Helsinki-based Korkia said on Friday that the new development company formed with Global Consulting Energy, called FFK Italy Renewables, will progress the first projects to the shovel-ready state by the end of the current year.

"We are particularly excited about the planned agri PV projects, which are Korkia’s first. As a key producer of food, Italy is at the forefront of the agri PV trend in Europe, and it has been estimated that around 1 GW of agri PV capacity will be installed by 2026,” commented Michael Sandberg, Country Manager at Korkia.
