Kosovo pushes back solar tender deadline once more, plans wind auction

Kosovo pushes back solar tender deadline once more, plans wind auction EBRD backs Kosovo's first large-scale wind farm

Kosovo’s first solar power tender will be concluded in 2024 when the government also plans to hold its maiden wind power auction.

The ongoing auction for the right to develop a 100-MW solar project in the municipality of Rahovec will not close this year, as the deadline for submitting proposals has been pushed back for the third time.

Kosovo's Ministry of Economy told sister website SeeNews on Friday that the new deadline is January 31, 2024. It stated that interested parties have requested the extension so that they have enough time to complete all necessary preparations for participation in the competitive bidding process.

Earlier in the week, the ministry also announced it has decided to launch another tender in 2024, targeting 150 MW of wind power. It expects this move to serve as a catalyst for financing from private developers.

In both cases, the government is working with international partners such as the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).
