Family-owned grocery distributor Krasdale Foods announced this week it has hired PowerFlex to install a 2.7-MW solar power system on the rooftop of its warehouse in the Bronx, New York.

Specifically, PowerFlex will deploy more than 6,500 solar panels atop the firm’s Hunts Point facility within nine months from the start of installation. Being a community solar project, it will enable about 300 residents in the same utility area to share in the power output.

Krasdale said it has, meanwhile, agreed with the New York City Economic Development Corporation to extend its current lease through 2041.
