Kyocera EPA LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Japan's Kyocera Corp (TYO:6971), has signed an on-site power purchase agreement (PPA) with Shigiya Machinery Works Ltd, a manufacturer and seller of metal machine tools.

Under this agreement, the first for Kyocera EPA, a 1,080-kW photovoltaic (PV) system was installed on the roof of Shigeya's main factory, which began operation last week. The PV array can generate 888,753 kWh of clean electricity per year.

Kyocera EPA's on-site PPA enables customers to install a PV system with no upfront investment, paying only a fee based on the energy generated, giving them the ability to consume their own renewable energy.

Kyocera uses all the surplus power, the company noted.
