Kyocera profit jumps 205.4% Y/Y in FY 2010/11

(ADPnews) - Apr 28, 2011 - Japanese electronic equipment firm Kyocera Corp (TYO:6971) reported a net profit of JPY 122.45 billion (USD 1.5bn/EUR 1.01bn) for the year ended March 31, up 205.4% in annual terms.

Profits and sales in all segments grew on the year despite the yen's depreciation, the company said. Post-earthquake power outages and traffic disturbances forced the company to shut down certain production units in the Tohoku and Kanto regions but did not have any significant effect on the results for the year.

Operating profit rose by 144.2% year-on-year to JPY 155.9 billion.

Revenue amounted to JPY 1.267 trillion, an increase of 18%. Sales in the solar energy business also increased driven by Kyocera's expanded capacity and improved sales networks on the domestic and overseas markets.
