Kyocera supplies modules for 226.8-kW solar project in Palau

Dec 19, 2011 - Japanese electronic equipment firm Kyocera Corp (TYO:6971) said today it had provided 1,080 solar modules for a 226.8-kW solar system at the Republic of Palau international airport, the biggest solar project in the country.

The installation was designed by Kyocera and Wakachiku Construction Co Ltd, while the funds for the project came from the Japanese government’s Official Development Assistance (ODA), which seeks to back Palau's growth.

The modules have been installed on top the shading structures at the airport's parking lot. Their backside has been reinforced due to the high occurrence of typhoons on the island. The solar installation is estimated to produce 250 MWh a year and to offset some 80 tonnes of carbon dioxide emission, Kyocera said.
