Norwegian thermal energy storage (TES) firm Kyoto Group AS (FRA:77K) has signed a term sheet to supply a molten salt thermal energy storage (TES) system with a storage capacity of 56 MWh for Hungarian food ingredient producer KALL Ingredients Kft.

The planned order is for Kyoto’s Heatcube thermal battery which will replace the current natural gas supply at KALL's plant. It will be designed with an annual capacity of more than 30 GWh, according to a statement published today.

The term sheet was also signed by Kyoto’s financial partner Kyotherm and its Hungarian energy trading partner Energiaborze Kft. The parties expect to seal a commercial contract by the end of October, while the installation of the Heatcube is set for 2024.

Last month, the Norwegian company launched its first commercially installed Heatcube in Denmark. The facility is located at the Nordjylland Power Station in the city of Aalborg.
