ABP presents plan to turn Port of Barrow into renewables hub
Sep 18, 2024 14:41 CESTEnergy sector service provider Lamprell Plc (LON:LAM) on Thursday said it has signed a “very large contract” for the Moray West offshore wind farm project in the Moray Firth, Scotland.
The company will build 60 wind turbine transition pieces and two transition pieces for the wind park’s two offshore substations. It has now received a full notice to proceed. The contract also includes shipping of the transition pieces to a marshalling harbour in the UK.
According to Lamprell’s definition of contract values, a very large contract is worth over USD 200 million (EUR 202m).
Today’s announcement follows a reservation agreement in March for capacity in Lamprell's Hamriyah yard in the UAE.
The company said it will use its renewables production line, which is now under construction, for the job. The production line will allow it to build jacket components, transition pieces and monopiles.
The 882-MW Moray West offshore wind farm is being developed by Ocean Winds, a joint venture between EDP Renovaveis SA (ELI:EDPR) and Engie SA (EPA:ENGI). The project is seen to come on stream in 2024-2025. In July, it secured a contract for difference (CfD) for 294 MW generation.
