Vistra agrees USD 3.25bn buyout of zero-carbon energy unit
Sep 19, 2024 11:01 CESTIn its latest update on the blade damage at the Vineyard Wind offshore wind project in the US, the developer, a joint venture between Avangrid (NYSE:AGR) and Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners, said that a significant part of the remaining GE Vernova blade detached from the turbine on Thursday morning.
Maritime crews were onsite overnight preparing to respond to this unfolding and despite challenging weather conditions, a fleet of vessels remained at sea to manage the situation and work to remove bulk debris, the company added yesterday.
Additional crews have been deployed to Nantucket Island in expectation that more debris could wash ashore.
“We are staying apprised of GE Vernova’s efforts to manage the situation, including the removal and recovery of the remaining blade attached to the turbine,” the update further said.
On Wednesday, the company said that part of the blade was still attached to the turbine and could detach soon.
The blade damage was previously announced to have occurred on July 13.
