India-based engineering conglomerate Larsen & Toubro (BOM:500510) has secured an order to build a 75-MW floating solar park on the Panchet Dam in the Indian state of Jharkhand.

The solar facility will be part of the Ultra Mega Renewable Energy Power Park (UMREPP) being developed on public sector power generator Damodar Valley Corporation’s reservoirs in Jharkhand and West Bengal, according to a recent statement.

The UMREPP is a scheme of the Indian government seeking to promote the construction of new clean energy projects.

The order for the floating solar project has been assigned to Larsen & Toubro’s Power Transmission & Distribution (PT&D) unit.

The domestic contract comes shortly after Larsen & Toubro said it has been hired to install a 1.8-GW solar photovoltaic (PV) site as part of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park in Dubai.
