Le Havre, Saint-Nazaire agree to jointly develop offshore wind power projects

(ADPnews) - Dec 14, 2010 - The French agglomeration community of Le Havre, CODAH, agreed with the urban community of Saint-Nazaire's region and estuary, CARENE, to jointly create a marine wind power field to serve the French and British markets.

The ambitions of the heads of the two communities, who signed a framework agreement for co-operation today, are to unite the forces of the Saint-Nazaire and Le Havre ports. The ports may become industrial and storage platforms for future offshore wind farms, which are seen to attract the interest of companies like French nuclear group Areva (EPA:CEI) and heavy engineering group Alstom (EPA:ALO), according to Antoine Rufenacht, CODAH's president.

Upon signing the agreement, CODAH and CARENE opened a call for governmental projects.
