Leaf Clean Energy books gain in H1 FY 2012/13

Mar 18, 2013 - Renewable energy investor Leaf Clean Energy Co (LON:LEAF) today posted an attributable gain of USD 1.9 million (EUR 1.5m) for the six months through December, compared with a loss of USD 10.3 million a year earlier.

The Cayman Islands-based which firm provides venture and growth capital across the renewable energy industry saw its net asset value (NAV) a share climb by 1% to USD 1.4297. The company had USD 184.1 million in net assets as of December 31, including USD 156.8 million invested in portfolio companies and the rest in cash.

Major development between July and December included portfolio company Invenergy Wind securing a USD-500-million investment by Canadian fund manager Caisse de depot et placement du Quebec in 1.5 GW of US and Canadian operating wind farms. Another portfolio firm -- SkyFuel Inc -- received an order for parabolic trough solar collectors for a 1.1-MW concentrating solar power (CSP) project in Alberta, Canada.
