Lebanon starts 10MW solar project Beirut River Snake

Apr 12, 2013 - The Lebanese ministry of energy and water today announced the launch of the Beirut River Solar Snake project, whose final goal is to generate 10MW of electricity through solar panels installed at some 6 metres above the Beirut River.
The pre-qualification bid announcement will be made on April 23. Bidders should have previous experience in the field and will need to partner with a civil engineering company. The amount of the project should not exceed USD 4 million (EUR 3.1m), the ministry said.
The project will be carried out through the Lebanese center for energy conservation LCEC, which is a financially and administratively independent entity operating under the direct supervision of the energy ministry.
Upon its completion Beirut River Solar Snake will be the first solar farm in Lebanon.
