French green hydrogen producer Lhyfe (EPA:LHYFE) on Wednesday said it has signed an offtake agreement with refueling station developer H2 Mobility Deutschland to supply green hydrogen to four fuel stations in Germany.

Under the five-year agreement, Lhyfe will deliver renewable hydrogen from its future production site in Schwaebisch Gmuend in the state of Baden-Wuerttemberg. The first hydrogen shipments will be used in four fuel stations developed and operated by H2 Mobility Deutschland across Baden-Wuerttemberg and Rhineland-Palatinate. According to the announcement, the total volume will reach more than 1,200 tonnes over the five-year duration of the contract.

Lhyfe launched construction of a 10-MW hydrogen production plant project in Schwaebisch Gmuend in October 2023.

“With a reliable hydrogen supply and the necessary refueling infrastructure, this partnership enables a shift toward zero-carbon transport at a new scale for the region,” said Luc Grare, head of Central and Eastern Europe at Lhyfe.

Frank Fronzke, managing director and COO at H2 Mobility, said the deal advances the company’s objective to have green hydrogen throughout the entire H2 Mobility Deutschland network by 2028. “With this agreement the first brand new hydrogen refueling stations will provide green hydrogen from 2025 onwards,” Fronzke added.

Currently, the company’s network allows fuel cell vehicles, including passenger cars, smaller commercial vehicles and refuse collector vehicles to refuel at 700 bar at around 80 public refueling stations in Germany. Refueling at 350 bar is available to buses and trucks at 33 stations.
