UK-based solar developer Lightsource bp has signed a EUR-315.34-million (USD 337.86m) financing agreement for its 560-MWp Enipeas project in Greece, one of Europe's largest solar projects.

The financing, announced today, is led by Eurobank AE and includes EUR 145.34 million provided by the bank and EUR 170 million coming from the EU’s Recovery and Resilience Fund as part of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan Greece 2.0.

The project represents a total investment of EUR 395.15 million, the remaining 20% of which, or EUR 79.82 million, will be covered by Lightsource bp’s own funds.

The Enipeas solar project, located in Larissa and Fthiotida, will consist of a 400-MWp southern cluster and a 160-MWp northern cluster. It is expected to be completed and connected to the grid in 2026. In the first year of operation, the project is expected to produce 0.90 TWh, enough to power 225,000 households, meeting almost 2% of domestic production, the developer estimates.

Since its entry into the Greek market in 2020, Lightsource bp says it has developed a portfolio of solar and storage projects surpassing 1 GW.
