Lightsource bp, the BP Plc (LON:BP) backed solar power business, has signed a 15-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with local independent energy trader America Energia for electricity generated by the 210-MWp Milagres solar farm in Brazil.

The Milagres solar farm, located in Abaiara, in the state of Ceara, is due to be fully operational in 2024.

As part of the agreement, Lightsource bp will issue Renewable Energy Certificates (I-RECs) to America Energia for the whole duration and volume sold.

The PPA is part of Lightsource bp's strategy to supply with power smaller customers through partnerships with traders.

In May, the developer signed a 10-year PPA for the same solar farm with Casa dos Ventos.

Lightsource bp has a portfolio of projects with a combined capacity of 4 GW which are under development across Brazil.
