EC clears EUR-1.2bn Polish scheme to aid net-zero equipment
Sep 19, 2024 8:42 CESTUK-based solar developer Lightsource bp announced today the start of commercial operation of a 40-MW solar farm in Poland, its first such asset in the country.
The Kotun solar project has a long-term power purchase agreement (PPA) in place with US technology giant Microsoft Corp (NASDAQ:MSFT) that was signed in September 2023.
Spanning 76 hectares, the facility is located near the northwestern city of Pila. Its output will be enough to power 26,840 homes annually.
Lightsource bp has been present in Poland since 2020 where it has a 3.2-GW project pipeline.
“The Kotun solar farm reaching commercial operation is our first significant contribution to the country’s decarbonisation targets,” said Michal Glowacki, Lightsource bp’s country head for Poland.
