Swedish electrofuel plants developer Liquid Wind and German energy group Uniper SE (ETR:UN0) have decided to enter into an e-fuels collaboration focused on commercial-scale e-fuel facilities development, power supply, and e-methanol offtake.

The two companies have signed a strategic partnership agreement under which Liquid Wind may provide development services for Uniper's future e-fuel plants. The German firm, in turn, may contribute with the supply of fossil-free electricity for future projects developed by Liquid Wind and as an off-taker of e-methanol for commercial distribution.

The pact builds on an already existing partnership between the companies. Uniper became the second-largest investor in the Nordic hydrogen-based electro-fuels developer in 2021.

Gothenburg-based Liquid Wind was founded in 2017. The company has set itself a goal of making a final investment decision (FID) on more than 10 projects by 2027.
