LOC takes control of French marine energy engineering specialist Offshore wind farm Greater Gabbard (innogy SE)

London-based marine and engineering consultancy LOC Renewables has acquired a 70% stake in French marine energy engineering firm Innosea to improve its offerings to the offshore wind industry.

Nantes-headquartered Innosea is a spin-off from Centrale de Nantes maritime & offshore engineering research department. It specialises in engineering and modelling for the marine environment, and more specifically in the areas of offshore structures and turbine engineering for fixed and floating substructures. The activities conducted by the firm range from concept studies and detailed engineering, to basin and sea trials, surveys and certification support.

With this purchase, LOC Renewables will build out its planning and design services to offshore wind projects. The offerings of the combined business will cover the planning and permitting stages through to the operation and maintenance of the offshore wind parks.

Innosea owns a number of tools such as PREDIN, which is a dedicated offshore wind foundation integrated basic design commercial software. The firm employs a team of 25 people.
