Lockheed Martin and Romania's ICCO group have launched a $15 million (12 million euro) renewable energy project in central Romania, Bucharest-based media reported.

The project will be implemented at the Brasov county's Ghimbav Industrial Park, which is operated by ICCO group, news agency Mediafax (www.mediafax.ro) reported on Thursday.

The first stage of the investment project is worth $12 million and involves mounting solar panels on five facilities in the park as well as on an area of 1.0 hectare on the ground, the agency quoted the president of ICCO group, Catalin Costan, as saying.

The second stage, worth $3.0 million, involves installing solar panels on 4.0 hectares on the ground next year.

U.S. firms Tenksolar and Helios will supply the solar panels for the project, Mediafax said.
