Chinese photovoltaics (PV) manufacturer Longi Solar announced today it has received an order for 134 MWp of solar modules for installation as part of a project in Bangladesh's Khulna province.

Under the contract awarded by industrial conglomerate Orion Group, Longi will deliver modules from its Hi-MO5 series.

With completion scheduled for August of this year, the PV plant will become Bangladesh's largest solar power generation facility. Its output is already sold to the Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB) under a power purchase agreement (PPA).

According to Longi Solar's senior vice president, Dennis She, the partnership between the two companies will help the country to fulfil its 10% renewable energy target by 2021.
