Indian engineering major Larsen & Toubro Ltd (NSE:LT) said today that its renewables arm has been selected to build two solar projects in the Middle East with a combined capacity of 3.5 GW.

The orders were signed with a local developer. The names of the contractor and the projects were not disclosed.

L&T will be also in charge of the grid interconnections encompassing pooling substations and overhead transmission lines. The company is now set to start detailed engineering and initial construction works, it said in a press statement.

The Middle East order and a recent solar-plus-storage project awarded in India have brought L&T’s renewables portfolio to nearly 22 GWp cumulative capacity, including solar and wind projects either in operation or in the making.
