Of the 14 PPAs, four are tied to new renewable energy capacity and will add 140 MW to the Malawian power mix.

According to media reports, German turnkey project developer Droege Energy will build a 20-MW floating solar farm on the Lake Malawi in the Monkey Bay area and the 50-MW Mphamvu Mzimba wind farm.

Atlas will add another 20 MW of solar power, while Quantel will build the 50-MW Bwengu ground-mounted solar park in the Mzimba District of Malawi.

Egenco secured 10 PPAs for its existing output produced by the power company’s large hydropower plants and diesel generators.
