Malaysia is inviting parties to take part in the fifth round of its Large Scale Solar (LSS) programme, which is seeking to secure 2 GW of capacity.

Interested companies or consortia can purchase the Request for Proposal (RfP) document from April 1 to April 16 on the website of the Energy Commission (Suruhanjaya Tenaga), which runs the LSS competitive bidding programme. Proposals are due by July 25, 2024.

The overall 2 GW that the latest round aims to allocate is divided into four packages involving capacities ranging from 1 MW to 500 MW, the Energy Commission explains. The projects are expected to start operations in 2026.

The LSS programme was launched in 2016. In the fourth round, which sought 1 GW, 30 projects were preselected in March 2021, representing 823 MW of capacity.
