Solarvest lands USD-26m solar EPCC job in Malaysia, posts profit bump
Sep 03, 2024 8:58 CESTMalaysian utility Tenaga Nasional Bhd (KLSE:TENAGA), or TNB, is seeking developers for a 30-MW floating solar project at a water reservoir in the eastern part of its home country.
According to the tender notice, parties are invited to submit offers for the engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning (EPCC) of the plant. Proposals will be accepted by December 8.
The photovoltaic (PV) park is set to be installed at the Chenderoh Reservoir on the Perak River, the first major hydroelectric dam and power generation station in Malaysia.
TNB aims to have 7 GW of renewable energy plants in operation by 2030 as part of a wider goal to become net zero and coal-free by 2050. Its targets align with the Asian country’s efforts to produce 30% of its total power from renewables by the end of the decade.
At the end of 2022, Malaysia’s total installed renewable energy capacity stood at 9.04 GW, out of which 1.93 GW coming from solar power.
