The Maldives government and the Asian Development Bank (ADB), acting as transaction advisor, are inviting interested parties to participate in market-sounding sessions in relation to a 20-MW solar project for which a request for proposals (RFP) should be launched in the coming weeks.

The one-hour sessions will be held via Zoom on October 18 and October 20, the Ministry of Environment, Climate Change and Technology (MOE) of the Republic of Maldives announced on Sunday. It explained that the purpose of this process is to obtain bidder and lender community insights. The feedback will inform the final tender design.

The winner of the proposed competitive bidding process will design, build, finance, own, operate and maintain a mix of land, rooftop and nearshore floating solar power systems in 20 outer islands of the Maldives.

The project will be supported by a 15-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with state-owned utility Fenaka Corporation Ltd.
