Weekly renewables M&A round-up (Nov 4 - 8)
Nov 08, 2024 17:12 CESTThe government of the Republic of Maldives is seeking proposals for the construction of 21 MW solar photovoltaic (PV) plants in six of its major islands.
A request for pre-qualifications was released last week and published in the national gazette. Interested parties are required to register with the Ministry of Finance by March 12, 2020.
The Accelerating Renewable Energy Integration and Sustainable Energy (ARISE) as it is named, is split into two installation lots, the first one of which envisages the construction of a 10-MW floating solar array in Addu City. The second lot is for the installation of 11-MW of ground-based plants in Addu City, Fuvahmulah City, Kulhudhuffushi City, Thinadhoo, Eydhafushi and Hinnavaru.
All projects will be developed on a build-own-operate-transfer basis. Winners will be selected through a Request for Bids and will be awarded a standard power purchase agreement (PPA) for 15-20 years.
The island nation is conducting the procurement round with the assistance of the World Bank in line with its goal to cut its dependence on diesel power generation.
