Malta’s Ministry for Energy and Water Management on Friday invited photovoltaic (PV) project developers to bid for financial support in a 15-MW solar tender.

The auction concerns projects with an individual capacity of at least 1 MWp, with each bidder allowed to participate with only one bid per site.

Proposals will be ranked based on the bid price in ascending order, with the lowest bid ranking first. The table below shows the maximum allowed bids.

Installation type Maximum allowed financial support
Quarries, official disused landfills, industrial land and rooftops EUR 0.140 per kWh
Car parks EUR 0.153 per kWh
Land under a government concession EUR 0.108 per kWh
Others EUR 0.133 per kWh

The ministry will accept sealed offers by July 22, 2020. It plans to hold a clarification meeting in the morning of June 15 to answer any questions concerning the Invitation to Bid (ITB) document, which can be found here: https://energy.gov.mt/en/tenders/Documents/2020/May2020/ITB%20-%20Over%201%20MW%20PV%20Call3.pdf
