IEA urges proactive measures to integrate renewables
Sep 18, 2024 11:17 CESTApr 20, 2012 - Washington Gas Energy Services (WGES) said today it would supply wind power to the Mandarin Oriental hotel in Washington, as well as carbon offsets under its WGES CleanSteps schemes.
Purchasing WGES CleanSteps WindPower and WGES CleanSteps Carbon Offsets is in line with the hotel's plan to limit its environmental footprint. Other activities corresponding to the plan include optimised water use and minimised waste volumes at the hotel.
According to WGES estimates, by using its services Mandarin Oriental will save as much carbon dioxide emissions as taking off the road 1,685 cars.
All the wind power that the utility will supply to the hotel is Green-e Energy certified by the Center for Resource Solutions, the press release said.
