Martifer Solar switches on 862-kW solar plant for Max Mara in Italy

Sep 17, 2013 - Martifer Solar, part of Portuguese industrial group Martifer SGPS SA (ELI:MAR), has put on stream an 862.25-kW rooftop solar facility in Italy for a unit of fashion group Max Mara.

The photovoltaic (PV) plant was constructed on the roof of Cavriago’s premises in northern Italy’s Emilia Romagna region. Martifer Solar took care of the engineering, procurement and construction and will operate and maintain the panels.

The installation features over 3,400 polycrystalline modules made in Italy, capable of producing 1,060 MWh of electricity each year. Its output will be enough to meet the annual power needs of 900 people. The facility is also estimated to offset about 700 tonnes of carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions a year.

Martifer Solar in September also wrapped up the installation of a 195-kW rooftop solar system for Italy’s Flexpackaging. Together with the 862-kW plant, it has installed 55 MW of solar capacity in Italy, the firm noted.
