Masdar, ADFD break ground on 6-MW wind farm in Seychelles

Mar 5, 2012 - Abu Dhabi's state-run green energy firm Masdar last week unveiled the start of construction of a 6-MW wind farm in the Republic of Seychelles in partnership with the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development (ADFD).

The wind farm will consist of eight turbines located at two sites. It will account for 11% of the total installed electrical capacity on the main island of the Seychelles, according to Masdar, the project's manager on behalf of the government of Seychelles and ADFD.

Masdar has contracted South Korean wind power equipment manufacturer Unison Co to build the wind farm. Under the agreement, Unison Co will own, operate and maintain the wind power facility, once installation has been completed.

The ADFD is an Abu Dhabi government-owned institution that supports social and economic development in developing countries.
