The Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company PJSC, also known as Masdar, and PT PJBI, a unit of Indonesia's state-owned power utility PT PLN, have inaugurated the 145-MW/192-MWp Cirata floating solar plant in Indonesia.

Masdar announced the milestone on social media today, saying that this is the country’s first floating solar power facility and also the largest of its kind in Southeast Asia. The site has the capacity to supply 50,000 households a year.

The event was attended by Indonesian President Joko Widodo.

The joint venture between Masdar and PT PLN achieved financial close on the project in the summer of 2021. About two years later, the Abu Dhabi-based renewables developer reached an agreement with the Indonesian power utility to implement a 500-MW second phase of the project.
