Brazil’s Rio Grande do Sul agrees green hydrogen pact
Sep 19, 2024 11:42 CESTUAE’s renewables developer Masdar has signed a deal with the government of Ethiopia for the development of two solar parks in the East African nation with a total capacity of up to 500 MW.
"Ethiopia has unparalleled renewable energy resources. The global net zero emission target offers a great economic opportunity to harness our renewable resources and ensure access to abundant, clean and affordable energy for Ethiopia and beyond," Ethiopia's Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed Ali said in a tweet on Wednesday.
A joint development agreement between the two sides was signed during the Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week 2023.
The location of the solar parks and other details about the projects were not disclosed.
The pact follows a memorandum of understanding (MoU) from 2021 under which Masdar planned to explore the possibility of developing 500 MW of solar projects and related grid infrastructure in Ethiopia.
