Iberdrola inaugurates 496-MW Saint-Brieuc wind farm offshore France
Sep 19, 2024 16:25 CESTDec 30, 2014 - Abu Dhabi-based renewable energy company Masdar said on Tuesday it has initiated the installation of 1.8 MW of solar arrays in four Pacific island countries.
The solar systems are being built in the island nations of Kiribati, Fiji, Tuvalu and Vanuatu. They are financed under the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development’s USD-50-million (EUR 41m) UAE-Pacific Partnership Fund. The installations are expected to result in fuel savings worth some USD 2 million a year. Their completion is seen to occur by the second half of 2015.
Masdar has also built the La'a Lahi (Big Sun) solar park in Tonga and the first wind farm in Samoa. Each of those two projects were financed via the UAE-Pacific Partnership Fund as well, it noted.
The particular fund, launched in March 2013, has to date supported the construction of 2.8 MW of renewable energy plants across six countries in the region.
