German wind turbine towers manufacturer Max Boegl Wind AG will increase its production capacity to up to 600 hybrid towers annually after starting production at an additional location in Emden, Germany.

The towers will be manufactured in collaboration with Emden-based Bettels Betonfertigteile, which makes precast concrete components for wind turbines. The two companies have been partnering since September 2022.

The site in Emden is expected to produce up to 200 Boegl Hybrid Towers from 2024 onwards. The location will therefore expand Max Boegl Wind’s current annual capacity of 400 towers made at its sites in Sengenthal and Osterroenfeld, Germany.

The move comes as Max Boegl Wind, which is part of construction group Max Boegl, has been experiencing strong demand over the past two years as Germany aims to expand onshore wind energy significantly to 115 GW in 2030 and needs local manufacturing capacity.
