French hydrogen firm McPhy Energy SA (EPA:MCPHY) on Tuesday said that from 2022 it will increase its hydrogen station manufacturing capacity from 20 to 150 units per year.

This is thanks to a new industrial site the company will move into in March 2022. It is an existing building McPhy is renting in Grenoble. The site will bring together the company’s research and innovation, engineering and production activities that are currently based in La Motte-Fanjas and Grenoble.

The new facility is expected to gradually ramp up to reach an annual capacity of 150 stations from 2022, the company said. It is projected to create more than 100 jobs when running at full load.

McPhy, which specialises in electrolysers and hydrogen stations, said the announcement is part of its transition to an industrial scale.

In May, the firm pre-selected Belfort, a commune in northeastern France, as the potential site for its electrolyser gigafactory.
