Thai project management and engineering firm Modern Energy Management Co Ltd (MEM) will tender the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract for a 150-MW intertidal wind project in Vietnam.

MEM, which was awarded the job by a confidential investor, already has a management role on the project, it said.

“In addition to a technical evaluation, we approached the project from commercial and financial perspectives, with a keen eye to reduce risk and improve investor returns,” stated Aaron Daniels, managing director of MEM.

The intertidal wind project will be realised in two phases, with construction scheduled to begin this year.

MEM noted that Vietnam seeks to achieve 6.2 GW of installed wind power generating capacity by 2030. At present, 190 MW are operational.
