The European Commission cleared on Friday the creation of a hydrogen mobility solutions joint venture by German family-run industrial gases maker Messer SE and Toyota Tsusho Europe SA, a Belgium-based subsidiary of Japanese Toyota Tsusho Corp (TYO:8015).

The joint venture will offer a one-stop-shop service to fleet operators, including the provision of hydrogen mobility vehicles, maintenance and fleet management services, as well as on-site production and supply of green hydrogen in Europe.

The Commission concluded that the proposed transaction would raise no competition concerns, given its limited impact on the market.

Messer is a producer of industrial, speciality and medical gases, as well as gas mixtures, while Toyota Tsusho Corp is a trading company operating globally across various sectors, such as metals, parts and logistics, automotive, machinery, energy, chemicals and electronics.
