Switzerland-headquartered integrated energy company MET Group has finalised the installation of the Kaba II solar project in eastern Hungary and unveiled the 23.4-MWp photovoltaic plant in a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Wednesday.

The solar farm features more than 33,000 modules covering a 31-hectare area in the town of Kaba. It is situated next to the first MET Kaba Solar Park, which the energy group commissioned in 2021.

The Kaba II project was developed by MET Group’s in-house team, taking into account the latest technology to have the solar farm in operation for at least 30 years. According to the company's projections, the plant will generate enough electricity to power around 13,000 local households.

“Solar energy has grown significantly in recent years in Hungary, with solar generation reaching around 19,5% of total power generation in 2023 and around 33% of the energy mix today,” commented Clive Turton, Executive Chairman of MET Group’s Green Assets Division.
