Iberdrola inaugurates 496-MW Saint-Brieuc wind farm offshore France
Sep 19, 2024 16:25 CESTUAE-based water group Metito Group said on Tuesday that it won a 55-MW solar project in Bangladesh together with Chinese renewable energy company JinkoPower International and Saudi investor Aljomaih Group.
The project was awarded by the Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB) after the consortium submitted the lowest bid in the country's history, at USD 0.0748 (EUR0.0674) per kWh. It is part of Bangladesh's efforts to secure a more balanced energy mix.
The solar facility will be built in Rangunia, Chattogram, on land provided by the BPDB, and operated under a 20-year concession agreement. It will be connected to the Chandraghona grid using a single circuit 132-kV line.
The consortium expects to bring the solar farm online in the second half of 2021.
This is Metito's first renewable energy project in Bangladesh, after its recent foray into the sector.
