Suomen Lantakaasu, Atria take FID on EUR-60m Finnish biogas plant
Sep 09, 2024 11:58 CESTJun 26, 2012 - Finnish forest industry group Metsa said Monday it would not invest in a biodiesel plant in Finland together with local bioenergy company Vapo Oy.
Since 2009, Metsa and Vapo have been exploring the possibility to build a biodiesel plant in Finland or the neighbouring regions. In the final stages of the feasibility study the partners considered a wood-fired plant in Ajos, Kemi, in the Bay of Bothnia. However, Metsa does not see good profitability prospects for the project.
Metsa plans to focus on developing its integrated mill in Kemi, which may include replacing fossil fuels and increasing bioenergy production, according to Hannu Anttila, EVP for strategy.
Metsa is controlled by member-owned Metsaliitto Cooperative.
