Michigan Wood Fuels looks to qualify products under PFI/ALSC Standards Program

Jan 25, 2013 - US pellet manufacturer Michigan Wood Fuels LLC yesterday said it would seek to qualify its product under the Pellet Fuel Standards Program of the Pellet Fuels Institute (PFI) and American Lumber Standard Committee (ALSC).

The company is currently finalising its internal quality management programme in order to meet the requirements under the programme.

After finishing the internal quality programme, the company will cooperate with Timber Products Inspection for auditing and laboratory testing services. Timber Products is to verify compliance after an initial inspection and then audit and test to assure continued compliance.

Compliance with the Pellet Fuel Standards Program will enable the company to put a quality mark on their bags to indicate their pellets are compliant with the fuel grade listed on the bag.
