Solar project developer Constant Energy will supply Midea Refrigeration Equipment Thailand with green power from 12 MWp of photovoltaic (PV) arrays to be installed atop the heating, ventilation, and air conditioning company’s premises.

The parties have signed a power purchase agreement (PPA) that will enable the electricity supplies, Constant Energy said. The contract was supported by Anhui Midea Hekang Electric Power Engineering.

The proposed rooftop solar systems will mounted within Midea’s factory in Chonburi Province, Thailand. Specifically, three production facilities and a carpark area will be equipped with PV panels, which are expected to enable Midea to cut its electricity expenses and carbon dioxide emissions by 130,000 tonnes over the plants’ lifespan.

Midea Refrigeration Equipment is a subsidiary of Chinese electrical appliance manufacturing giant Midea Group. Commencing on the deal, the Thai unit’s general manager Cai Yaowu said: “Our organization is committed to sustainable practices, and this partnership demonstrates our recognition of the vital relevance of green energy.”
