Qair’s Green Switch wins permit for 50-MW British PV park
Sep 20, 2024 5:48 CESTMar 31, 2014 - Port of Milford Haven in Wales, the UK, has put into operation a 5 MW solar park at its Liddeston Ridge site.
The 20,000-panel solar park will generate enough electricity to power 1,000 homes, the port said on Friday.
Liddeston Ridge Solar Park is now operating at 25% of its capacity due to ongoing upgrades to the lines connecting the facility to the UK's national grid. The upgrades are being performed by British electricity network operator Western Power Distribution.
The port is also progressing with its plans to develop a solar park in the area of Sunderland Hangars at its Pembroke Dock. It has submitted an application for installation of 400 panels on the Grade II listed buildings to Pembrokeshire County Council.
The port will reach savings of carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions of over 2,200 tonnes annually in case the council approves the project, according to Tim James, Milford Haven’s renewable energy manager.
The port has already installed 2,500 panels on its roofs.
