Chinese wind turbine manufacturer Mingyang Smart Energy Group Ltd (SHA:601615) has formed a joint venture with South Korean sector player Unison to produce wind turbines in South Korea.

Mingyang announced the news in a social media post on Thursday, saying that the venture will support South Korea’s wind power industry. The partners aim to provide products and services to South Korea and the surrounding region.

The move follows the signing of a localisation cooperation agreement between the companies in May 2023.

Mingyang recently announced the installation of its MySE18.X-20MW turbine, touted as the world's largest single-capacity offshore wind turbine.

In August, it signed an agreement to set up a wind turbine factory in Italy with Italian renewables group Renexia.
